Another Focus Service Project

After we fed the people that lost their homes in the fire here in Bacolod people at Focus decided that they wanted to do something more for them.. They decided that they wanted to give them GI sheets for their homes.. GI sheets are pieces of metal that you can use for the roof of your house! They divided them up between all of the families that were affected and were able to give each family 4 GI sheets each! They were all so happy and appreciative to get them for their houses..

It was pretty cool we had been to the place that got burned the day after it happened and it just looked like a ton of work to clean up.. Well we went back three days later to hand out these GI sheets and it was already cleaned up and there were already houses being rebuilt! We handed the sheets out one family at a time and they had to sign a paper saying that they recieved their GI sheets, and that they wouldn't go out to the streets and sell them! While we were there people would get their sheets and go put them on the roof of their houses!

I just sat with Payson while they handed out the sheets and everyone loved him! All of the little kids wanted to play with him and touch him! Even the adults just love him and play with him!

This lady would tickle Payson and at first he didn't like it then eventually started laughing

This is a house that was already being rebuilt

All the kids loving on Payson

The whole crew
We ended up not having enough GI sheets the first night that we went so the next day they bought some more to hand out.. It just so happened that Jordyn and Cody got to the Philippines that day so they got to come with us to hand out GI sheets and meet the people that were affected.

We got there and all of the kids rememberd Payson! The day before that we went it was dark and night time so he had to sit on my lap.. This time it was light outside so he got to get down and run around. Payson was in heaven having little kids to play and run around with! The funniest part is Payson would clap and they would all copy him and so he would just bust up laughing thinking he was so funny and then he would start clapping again! It was so fun to see him interact with little kids again because back home he saw little kids all of the time and here he doesn't!

He loved playing in the dirt with all of the kids

This is when he was clapping and they would copy him
It has been such a humbling, overwhelming, eye opening experience to do this charity work for these families affected by this fire! You never appreciate what you have until its gone.. We always had a house, food, family, money, jobs and everything else growing up and didn't really have a worry in the world! These kids here are so happy barely having anything! I wish that everyone was more like them! They are the sweetest things in the world! They were so sweet to all of us and especially Payson!

  1. Makes me cry. Everyone should have the experience of seeing what you have seen. I think you summed it up best when you said, "These kids here are so happy barely having anything! I wish that everyone was more like them!" That is so so true. We have too much, and much of the time, are not happy with what we have. LOVE YOU ALL!!
